Obituary

Mr. Thomas E. Hebert, Sr., of Taunton died unexpectedly Sunday, August 12 in the V.A. Medical Center, W. Roxbury. He was the beloved husband of the late Yvette C. (Rioux) Hebert. He was born 87 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late William and Alice (Brindle) Hebert. He was educated in Taunton and was a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a carpenter for Reynolds Brothers Construction Company in Braintree and Quincy for many years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served aboard the USS Leedstown, and became one of its few survivors of action off the coast of Algiers. He also served aboard the USS Badger and the USS Swenson during the War. He also served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Polish-American Citizens Club, the Italian Naturalization Club, and the David F. Adams Post #611, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf and spending time with his family. He was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton.
He leaves: 1 sister: Marjorie M. Neville of Taunton; 2 grandsons: Dale Hebert and his wife, Ivette of Taunton, and Glen Hebert and his wife, Leslie of Middleboro; 1 granddaughter: Robbin Leary and her husband, Brian of Sandwich; 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Thomas E. Hebert, Jr. of Taunton, and the brother of the late William Hebert of Portsmouth, R.I., Alice “Bunny” Beaulieu, Beatrice Desrosiers, and Dorothy Nadeau, all of Taunton.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, August 17 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in Cedar Knoll Cemetery, East Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M
