John David Lopes, age 80 of Somerset, passed away Aug. 11, 2012. He was the husband of the late Marjorie Ann (Soares) Lopes and the son of the late Joao & Ann (Goncalo) Lopes. Prior to retiring, John worked for American Dryer as a Maintenance Man, and he was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his children: David J. Lopes and Nancy H. Vadeboncoeur, both of Somerset; sisters: Mindy Barreira of Fall River, Connie Farabini of Swansea, & Elsie Sousa of Tiverton; grandchildren: Eric Vadeboncoeur of New Bedford & Daniel J. Vadeboncoeur of Dartmouth; great grandchildren: Jacob & Julia Vadeboncoeur of New Bedford; and several nieces & nephews.
Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC.
