Obituary

Edwin Wilbourn, age 85, of Water Valley, MS died Saturday, August 11, 2012 in Water Valley. He was born in Yalobusha County to the late Vard and Collie Cubelle Wells Wilbourn, and served in the United States Army in both WWII and the Korean War as a machine gunner and in the Calvary. He was a trained escort driver for generals and commissioned officers including Gen. Douglas MacArthur. After his military service, he provided security service for Wells Fargo and worked as an exterminator. He had resided in Phoenix City, AL for many years and had returned home for the last ten years of his life.

Visitation will be from 9 AM until service time Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Services will begin at 10 AM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. David Robertson officiating. Burial will take place in Bethel Cemetery with Bobby Chandler, Ronnie Eubanks, Matthew Houston, Luke Houston, Sammy Edwards, and Tom Byars serving as pallbearers. Raymond "Tinker" Pullen will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Wilbourn, and his brother, Billy Wilbourn.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Gale Cariker, Jean Greenwood, and Joanne Miller, all of Marion, AR; one sister, Vera Mae Pullen (Raymond) of Water Valley, MS; and his niece and long-time caregiver, Linda Byars of Water Valley, MS; five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
