Harold T. O’Neil

...one of the oldest members of Carpenter’s Union, Local 624; 93

TEWKSBURY - Harold T. O’Neil, age 93, one of the oldest members of the Brockton Carpenter’sUnion, died Saturday, May 15, at his Tewksbury home after a long period of declining health. Hewas the husband of Edna V. (Willow) O’Neil, who died in 1992.

He was born in Somerville, Jan. 18, 1911, a son of the late John L. and Mary (Hawes) O’Neil. He had lived in Brockton the greater part of his life, but moved to Tewksbury in 1991.

He was employed as a carpenter for Local 624 Carpenter’s Union in Brockton, where he held thedistinction of being among the oldest members of the union. He supervised the construction of theCardinals Suite at the Cardinal Cushing Hospital and was thanked personally by the Cardinal.

Since his move to Tewksbury, he had been a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Church inWest Andover.

He is survived by three daughters, Darlene Perry of Safety Harbor, FL, Dolores Hannan ofCompton, NH, Beverly Pelletier of Tewksbury; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and HazelO’Neil of KY; two sisters, Rev. Sr. Margaret Ann O’Neil, C.S.J. of Dorchester, Grace Murphy ofBridgewater; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephewsincluding a special niece, Patricia Valenti and her husband Angelo of Litchfield, NH.

His Funeral Mass was held Saturday, May 22, in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, W. Andover. Interment was in St. Mary’s cemetery, No. Tewksbury.
