Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Elizabeth M. “Betty” (Coyle) O’Maley Aiello, 90, died Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at the Golden Living Center surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Ralph B. O’Maley and the late Frank J. Aiello.
Born in Gloucester on May 19, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Chief John J. Coyle and Alice (Walters) Coyle. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and had attended Gloucester public schools.
Betty was employed at Goldman’s Clothing Store on Main Street for many years. She had also worked in the office of St. Ann’s Church and had occasionally put her culinary skills to work in the kitchen of the rectory.
She was an avid knitter and seamstress and also enjoyed crocheting. She was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Women’s Auxilary and the Capt. Lester S. Wass Post #3 American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, C. Michael and Joyce (Cusick) O’Maley and John J. “Jack” O’Maley; two stepsons, Lt. Joseph Aiello, husband of Debra L. Aiello, Frank J. Aiello, Jr., husband of Donna C. Aiello; five grandchildren, Ralph B., husband of Marianne O’Maley, Tracy M. Boutin, Kelly A., wife of Scott Swicker, Robin P. Doyle and Erin E. O’Maley; seven step-grandchildren, Carrie Jerome, Garrin Orlando, Jennifer Aiello, Brian Aiello, Christopher Allen, Jillian Dehsman and Jamie Orlando; twelve great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. She was also predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Albert Frost; brother, John J. Coyle, Jr.; her stepdaughter, Sandra (Aiello) Orlando, wife of the late Alerio Orlando; and grandson-in-law, Robert A. Doyle.
Her funeral Mass will be held on Friday morning in Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church a 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 5 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery.
