JOHANNESSEN: Dorothy H. (Ellis), May 9, 2004, at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home, aged 84 years, wife of the late Johan Johannessen, mother of Sigurd W. Johannessen of Tiverton, RI., and Harriet Ane Didriksen of Mattapoisett. She was the daughter of the late Harriet (Jeffers) Ellis and the late John W. Ellis She was grandmother of the late Jennifer Ellen Didriksen and Dana Didriksen of New York, N.Y. Mrs. Johannessen was sister of the late Sarah "Sally" Tonnessen, the late Olivia B. Souza, the late John Ellis, and the late Bancroft Ellis Sr. She is survived by her beloved niece, Sarah Lawton, three nephews, John Ellis III, Bancroft Ellis Jr., and James P. Ellis and grandnephew and godson, Arthur Wayne Lawton, several grandnieces and grandnephews and her lifetime friend, Thelma Bettencourt of Forestdale, Ma. She was a CONFIRMED member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Fairhaven and a member of the Agawam Chapter #121 Order of Eastern Star. Her funeral and burial in Acushnet Cemetery was private. Remembrances may be made in her name to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund 16 Temple Place, Fairhaven, MA 02719. Arrangements were by the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St. New Bedford.
