SPRINGFIELD – Shari L. (Dougherty) Kantany, 38, of Springfield, was Called Home on Friday, August 3, 2012. She was born in Springfield on November 3, 1973, a beloved daughter of Yvonne M. (Thibault) Dougherty Ghazarian of Springfield and the late John J. Dougherty, Sr. She was raised and schooled in Springfield and later lived in Groton Long Point, Connecticut for several years before moving back home to Springfield. Shari was a loving person who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection. During her leisure time, she enjoyed painting and music. Shari will always be known for her kindness to her family and friends and was always ready to assist anyone in need. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James Kantany. She leaves: her cherished daughter, Starr Kantany; her loving mother and step-father, Yvonne M. (Thibault) Ghazarian and Vigen Ghazarian, both of Springfield; her loving step-mother, Beverly Pierce of Springfield; her loving companion, Sean Clancey of Springfield; her loving grandfather, Roger Thibault of Chicopee; her loving sisters, Jennifer Dougherty Ribeiro and her husband, Michael, Danielle Couture and Mia Martelli, all of Springfield; her loving brother, John J. Dougherty, Jr. of Williamstown, MA; her loving step-brother, Michael Dougherty of Monson; and her three dear nieces and three dear nephews, Crystal Hurtado, Madeleine Baker, Mya Acevedo, John Dougherty, III, Carlo Gouvin and Xavier Hernandez. Besides her father and husband, she was also predeceased by her loving brother, Nicholas Dougherty and her loving step-brother, Timothy Dougherty. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, August 10, 2012 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker Street, Springfield, MA 01129. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Her family has requested that memorial donations in her memory be made to her family to benefit her daughter, Starr, in care of Yvonne M. Ghazarian, 170 Tremont Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
