Gloria E. (Salvatore) Nowell age 90 of Brockton, died Sunday August 5, 2012 at the Kindred Hospital in Stoughton after a period of failing health. She was the loving wife of the late George F. Nowell for 59 years. Gloria was born and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late Nicola and Guilia (Porta) Salvatore and remained a lifelong resident of the city. She was a 1940 graduate of Brockton High School and the Italian school in Brockton and during the post war years worked at Washburn Candy in Campello.
Gloria was devoted to her home and family and her true joy in life was spending time with her husband and family. She also enjoyed working in her yard.
Gloria is survived by her children Ken F. Nowell and his fiancée Jayne Campion of Taunton and Linda J. Grilli and her husband Al of Plymouth. She also leaves three grandchildren Antonio Nowell of Maricopa, AZ; Angela Nowell of Hermosa, CA and Nicola Nowell of Taunton and five great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Vincent and Joseph Salvatore and Pearl Fournier. Gloria also leaves three sister-in-laws Jean Salvatore of Abington, Austa Salvatore of Brandon, VT and Mary Donovan of Brockton as well as 31 nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Wednesday 4-8 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 8 am followed by a funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 9 am. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:30 am.
