NEWTON-Alan J. Akasten, 59, of 2101 Washington Street, formerly of Worcester died Thursday, May 13th in Newton Health Care Center. His wife Linda M. (Foster) Akasten died in 1996. He leaves a brother William F. Akasten, and a sister Susan Akasten Burke both of Worcester. Another sister Valery Akasten predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester the son of Valentine C. and Rita H. (Arasniewicz) Akasten. Mr. Akasten was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and served in the Navy. He at one time worked in the food service industry.
The funeral is Monday, May 17th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 1:00 PM in St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street, Auburn. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
