Obituary

Fairhaven - Roswell G. King, 98, of New Bedford passed away August 3, 2012 at Alden Court Nursing Care & Rehab. Center. He was husband of the late Florence L. (Rogers) King.

Mr. King was born in New Bedford, son of the late Herbert R. and Bertha C. (Gifford) King, and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a longtime active member of the North Baptist Church. He was employed as an auto mechanic by various area garages and went on to work for Babbitt Steam Specialty Co. until his retirement. He was a member of the Quittacus Lodge A.F. & A.M.; the Sutton Commandery No. 16, Knights Templar; and the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Mass.

Survivors include his son: Stephen A. King and his wife Nora; a sister: Virginia B. Carpentier; 2 grndsons: Gregory King and Jeffrey King; 3 great-grandchildren: Zachory, Angelina and Kaitlyn King; and several nieces & nephews.

He was brother of the late Carleton H. King, Gladys W. Hutchinson and Phyllis M. King.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 11:30 A.M. at the Pine Island Cemetery, N. Dartmouth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Deacons Fund of the North Baptist Church, 750 County Street, New Bedford, MA 02740
