Thelma (Wilson) Kephart, 90, of Medway died suddenly August 5 in Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of the late John E. Kephart, Jr.
Born in Darby, Pennsylvania, December 25, 1921, the daughter of the late William and Jennie (Clingain) Wilson, Mrs. Kephart was raised in Collingdale, Pennsylvania and had lived in Geneseo, New York for over twenty years before moving to North Carolina where she lived for many years prior to moving to Medway 2 years ago.
She was a graduate of Collingdale High School, Drexel University and received a Master in Education from Temple University.
Mrs. Kephart had been a professor at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, and Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California. She later taught for many years in Perry High School in Perry, New York.
Following her retirement, she enjoyed and kept active by writing articles and poems for newspapers and magazines.
She had volunteered at SIMUSA in the Media Department and had supported numerous missionaries throughout the world thru Wycliffe Bible Translators and numerous other mission organizations.
She was a woman of strong faith who was devoted to serving the Lord.
She is survived by her children, Jean Schultz and her husband Rev. Carl Schultz of Uxbridge and Tim Kephart and his wife Jackie of Glendorn, California.
She was the sister of the late Alfred Wilson and was the sister of the late Russell Wilson.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Carl Jr. and Annika Schultz and Cory and Andrew Kephart.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday August 9 in the Medway Community Church at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be private.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway.
