Salem: Lucien E. Theriault age 93 of Salem, died unexpectedly, Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the NSMC / Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of the late Emerentienne L. ‘Mercy’ (Gagnon) Theriault whom he married in 1946.
Born in Manchester, NH, and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Paul and Emma (Denis) Theriault. Lucien attended the La Salette Seminaries in Enfield, NH, Attleboro and Brewster, MA. He left the seminary in 1944 and began working for Lynn Sand & Stone Co. and remained until his retirement in 1981.
Lucien was devoted to his wife, family and to Ste. Anne Parish. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, a sacristan for the daily and Sunday masses, as well as lector, Eucharistic minister. He also helped in organizing special liturgical celebrations, and with his late wife, devoted much time and energy in fund raising and the general support of the parish.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Priscilla Theriault of Mashpee, Gloria St. Onge and her husband Roy of N. Ft. Myers, FL, 2 sons, George J. Theriault of Orlando, FL, and Marc. J. Theriault and his wife Debbi of Myrtle Beach, SC, 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 1-A / Rt. 114] Salem on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. to be followed by his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Salem at 11:00 A.M. Visiting hours: Wednesday 5 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ste.
