Louise Virginia Harper Roberts, 80, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Ocilla with the Rev. Phillip Roberts and Elder Jimmy Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Roberts was born April 17, 1932, in Ocilla, Georgia to the late Luke Leonard and Virginia Louise Ashley Harper. A 1949 graduate of Ocilla High School, Mrs. Roberts attended LPN school in Atlanta. After working as a nurse in Ocilla and Douglas, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Roberts traveled with her husband at home and abroad during his career in the United States Army and she returned to Irwin County in 1968 shortly before his retirement. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was an avid flower gardener and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law: Tommy & Cathy Roberts of Wray, Bryan & Benita Roberts of Bonaire, and Glenn & LaDonna Roberts of Wray; grandchildren: Luke & Kristy Roberts, Justin & Trang Roberts, Zachary Roberts, Andrew Roberts, and Cal Roberts; and a great-granddaughter: Lilly Kathryn Roberts. She was preceded in death by her husband: Aubrey Bernard Roberts and one sister: Winnie Roberts.
