Barbara A. Gendall
Longtime Member of Tewksbury Congregational Church
TEWKSBURY: Barbara A. (Cahill) Gendall, age 85, of Kennebunk, Maine, a former longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2012, at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.
She was the beloved wife of 53 years to Stephen A. Gendall, who passed away on August 27, 2000.
Born in Arlington, Mass on August 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late James and Ann Cahill.
Barbara was raised in Arlington, attended Arlington schools and graduated from Arlington High School.
In 1953, she and her late husband moved to Tewksbury, where together they raised their family.
Barbara was a longtime member of the Tewksbury Congregational Church. In addition, she was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star in Billerica and Concord.
She enjoyed knitting, craft projects and spending time with her family especially during the holidays.
Barbara worked for many years as a Secretary for the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company until her retirement.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth S. Gendall and his wife Linda of Haverhill and Paul R. Gendall of Lowell; one daughter, Kathleen D. Gendall of Wells, ME; also many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was the sister of the late Joseph C. Cahill, who passed away March 20, 1969.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 4-7 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m., in the Tewksbury Congregational Church, 10 East St., Tewksbury Center. There will not be a procession from the funeral home. Kindly proceed directly to church. Interment will follow at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory may be made to the Tewksbury Congregational Church, 10 East St., Tewksbury, MA 01876.
