Obituary

Ruby Clorene Westmoreland King, age 95, died Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley, MS. She was born October 22, 1916 in Yalobusha County, MS to the late Willis Eck and Ada Electra Wilson Westmoreland. Clorene was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Water Valley, MS where she had served as president of the Women in the Church. She and her husband Carmon, who served as an Elder, worked with the Presbyterian Youth Fellowship. She enjoyed serving meals in her home to visiting ministers and their families. She loved flower gardening and collecting antique furniture. Clorene worked with Carmon in their retail furniture business for over twenty years.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 6, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Water Valley, MS. Funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Harold Spraberry officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with Barron Caulfield, Jr., Barry Caulfield, James Clayton Peacock, Kenny Taylor, Jim Bowles and Steve Burbank serving as pallbearers. Dr. Robert Traylor and James Peacock will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Clorene is survived by one son, Ersel King (Gloria) of Water Valley, MS; a sister, Maudene Westmoreland Oliphant of Hermitage Gardens in Oxford, MS; two granddaughters, Lea Anne King Parker (Barry) of Birmingham, AL and Laura King Burbank (Steve) of Chattanooga, TN; three great grandsons, Nathan Burbank, Andrew Burbank and Preston Burbank, all of Chattanooga, TN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carmon King; two sisters, Carlyne Westmoreland Taylor and Miriam Westmoreland Baddley; two brothers, I. T. Westmoreland and Rayburn Westmoreland.
