June M. (Hart) Chiampa of Dedham, formerly of Cambridge, Saugus and Malden passed away on August 3, 2012, after a valiant fight against Multiple Sclerosis, surrounded by her family in her final days. She was 70 years old. June was lovingly cared for by the wonderful nursing staff at the German Centre for Extended Care, especially Guerda, Joveneka, Dio, Angelica and Katie Politio, NP.
June was born and raised in Cambridge and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1959. June loved music and dancing and became an instructor at the Arthur Murray School of Dance. She moved to Washington, D.C. for several years working and dancing for Arthur Murray. When she returned to Massachusetts she worked at New England Air and later at the former Malden Hospital. She was a wonderful mother and "Nana June June" to her children and grandchildren. She was a beloved and vibrant resident at the German Centre for Extended Care in West Roxbury for almost seven years. June participated in the many activities at the Centre, including bingo, poker, sing- a-longs and was a member of the Holiday bell chorus. Her famous sayings were "not bad", "oh good" and "see you in the funnies." She loved hearing a good joke and almost never made it to hearing the punch line, as she was already laughing. She passed away knowing her greatest achievement is the love and understanding her children demonstrated for her and each other in her final days.
June was the loving mother of Nancy Greeley and her boyfriend Joseph Pelkey of Dedham. Chrissy Drummond and her husband Steven of Merrimac and Robert Chiampa and his wife Jennifer of Haverhill. Cherished grandmother of Aidan, Alison, Ethan, Brendan and Campbell. She was the dear sister of John Hart of Marshfield, George Hart of FL, Rose Hart of Cambridge and the late MaryAnn Andrews. Beloved sister in-law of Patricia Hart of Marshfield and devoted life long friend to Edna McNeil and Evelyn Allerdt. June is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews and grandnieces.
June's Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday August 7, 2012 at St. Theresa of Avila Church.
Contributions in June’s memory may be made to Deutsches Altenheim Resident Activities Fund 2222 Centre St. Attn: Carol Kelly, West Roxbury, MA 02132.
