Mr. Louis V. Giarle, 94 of Medford died on August 2, in Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford following a brief illness. He is the husband of Helen (Del Mastro) Giarle with whom he shared more than 66 years of marriage.
Born in Boston, son of the late Anthony and Josephine (Sardina) Giarle he attended Boston English High School. As a young man he spent some time in California. He joined the U.S. Army in 1941 and fought during the time of Guadal Canal. In later years he worked as an installer at the former Charlestown Navy Yard. He is a former member of the Medford Elks. He enjoyed traveling, watching hockey and was known to like a game of chance at Foxwoods. In addition to his wife he leaves a daughter Janis Schwab of AR. and a son Richard Giarle of FL. Loving grandfather of 4 grandchildren. Dear brother of Geraldine Rolfe and Joseph Giarle both of FL. A memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street Medford Friday August 10, at 10:00 am Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. At his request, visiting hours have been omitted. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
