Irene F. (Kearns) Regan, 71, a longtime resident of Winchester, passed away July 31, 2012, at Lahey Clinic in Burlington after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was the beloved Mother of Paul J. Regan and his wife Melody of Manchester, NH. Born, raised and educated in Winchester, she was a graduate of Winchester High School. She furthered her education at Katharine Gibbs School and was a Legal Assistant for many years where she was respected in her profession. Irene was musically inclined in her younger years playing both the violin and accordion. She was also a dog lover, an avid gardener, and a fan of talk radio. She loved to stay up to date on current events and finances.
One of five sisters, Irene was admired for her courage while facing her illness. In addition to her son and daughter-in-law, Irene is survived by her four sisters and their spouses: Mary T. Barrett and her husband David of Stow, Janet K. O’Leary and her late husband William of Winchester, Josephine A. King and her husband Daniel of Sudbury and Kathleen E. Owen and her husband Robert of Reading. Irene is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tues., Aug. 7 at 10AM in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Winchester.
