Obituary

CHICOPEE – Rollande G. “Rosie” (Goudreau) Labrie, 88, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Thursday, August 2, 2012. She passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Health Care Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Saint Valentin, Province of Quebec, Canada on August 18, 1923 a beloved daughter of the late Alphonse and Rina (Caron) Goudreau. She was raised and schooled in Canada and came to Holyoke on September 30, 1941. In 1955, she and her late husband moved to the Aldenville section of Chicopee where they lived the remainder of their lives. Active in her faith, she was a communicant of the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke and currently a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Rollande was a passionate bowler and bowled until the age of 80. She was a loving woman who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Leo G. Labrie who was Called Home on August 24, 1998. They were married on August 10, 1946 at the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 52 years of happiness together. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her cherished grandson, Randy Yonika who was Called Home on June 2, 1997; her dear brother, Roger Goudreau; and her dear sisters, Yvette Potvin, Cecile Phaneuf and Jeannette Gadbois. She leaves: her devoted daughters, Linda T. Yonika and her husband, Michael, of South Hadley and Nancy A. Labrie with whom she lived in Chicopee; her three cherished grandchildren, Alison Lee and her husband, Geoffrey, Kimm Yonika and her husband, Adam Hubbard, and Rusty Yonika and his fiancée, Gabe Carr; her two cherished great-grandchildren, Aurora and Wyatt Lee; her dear brother, Ralph Goudreau of Holyoke; her dear sisters, Claire Bukowski and her husband, Paulin, of Greenfield and Theresa Goudreau and her husband, Fred Wegrzyn, of Agawam; her dear brothers-in-law, Antonio Phaneuf of Westfield and Wilfred Gadbois of Holyoke; and her many dear nephews, nieces and a close family friend, Sondra Walpurgis of Chicopee. She also leaves family members of the Labrie family including her dear brother-in-law, Armand Labrie and his wife, Irene, of Southampton; her dear sisters-in-law, Fernande Laprade of Loudville; and Eileen Blais and her husband, Ronald, of Southampton. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, August 7, 2012 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Precious Blood Cemetery, Willimansett Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, August 6, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to either the Alzheimers Association, 264 Cottage Street, Springfield, MA 01104 or to the Sainte Rose de Lima Church Organ Fund, 15 Chapel Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
