Obituary

Mary (Walker) Pennington Fuller, age 87, of Mystic died Wednesday, August 1, 2012, after a long illness. She was preceded in death in 1989 by her first husband and father of her children, Philip Bond Pennington, and survived by her second husband, Daniel B. Fuller; six children, Anne Schultz and husband Matt, Sarah Maxwell and husband John, Jane Davis and husband William, Mary Jessica Schmitt and husband Frederick, James Pennington and wife Deborah, and Philip Pennington and wife Katharine; three step children, Ashley Fuller, Noyes Fuller and Howard Fuller; thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Mary will be missed by sisters Eileen Bickley and husband Robert, Hannah Walker, Florence Boland, and brothers John Walker and wife Kathleen, and James F. Walker Jr. She is predeceased by sister Joyce St. Germaine.

Mary was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on February 24, 1925, daughter of James F. Walker Sr. and Anna MacKillop Walker. She grew up in Norwich, graduating from the Norwich Free Academy in 1942, and graduated from Bryant College, class of 1943. She married Philip, a Navy officer, in 1946. They retired to and lived in North Stonington until his death in 1989, following which she moved to Mystic. She loved to garden and to paint and spent much of the remainder of her life developing what heretofore had been a hidden talent, travelling, and developing friendships in the pursuit of her art. She remarried to Daniel Fuller in 2002.
Mary loved her family, loved her geraniums, and loved her art as we all loved her. She will be sorely missed.

There will not be a visitation. Service will be held at the North Stonington Congregational Church at 10 am Thursday, August 9, 2012, immediately followed by burial at the Wheeler Cemetery, North Stonington.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
