Obituary

Michael Rutter, 70, of East Derry, NH, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in U Mass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA, following a long and courageous battle with illness. At his passing, he was surrounded by his family who loved him so much. Michael was born in Boston, MA on October 21, 1941, a son of the late Everett and Annett (Rickard) Rutter. He had been a lifelong resident of East Derry. Michael was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry, Class of 1960. He was the owner and operator of Rutter Construction in Derry for 40 years, which specialized in the design and construction of residential and light commercial structures, particularly churches, libraries and nursing homes. In his youth, he enjoyed hunting, camping and horseback riding. Above all, family was at the heart of Michael’s life, and especially in his retirement, his greatest joy was spending time with them. He was loved beyond measure, and in his absence, his family, especially his daughter, will always remember and treasure the guidance and wisdom that he shared throughout the years.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Linda (Savory) Rutter of East Derry; his daughter, Rebecca Rutter of East Derry; his sister, Hannah R. Martin of East Derry; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Rogers Rutter.

Calling hours were held on Sunday, August 5th from 2 - 5pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Monday at 10:00am in the Calvary Bible Church, 145 Hampstead Rd., Derry. The burial followed in the Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry.
