Jeannette (Morneau) Languirand passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Gerard T. Languirand. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Born in Salem, MA, daughter of the late Ellaine (Cote) and Joseph Morneau. A graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, valedictorian of class of 1949, she resided in Salem, MA prior to moving to Sandown, NH 26 years ago.
Jeannette spent her career as an executive secretary, most recently at Southern New Hampshire University. Prior to her retirement, she had a long-standing career at Osram Sylvania in Danvers, MA.
Jeannette was dedicated to her family and enjoyed spending time boating and camping. She also spent many years crocheting and knitting for her grandchildren, of which she won many awards.
She is survived by her five children, Michael Languirand of Londonderry, NH, Elaine Leclerc and her husband, David, of Peabody, MA, Alfred Languirand of Sandown, NH, Gerard Languirand and his wife, Michelle, of Hudson, NH and Brian Languirand and his wife, Darlene, of Hampstead, NH. She was the loving grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by two brothers, Roger of Peabody, MA and Albert of Salem, MA, three sister-in-laws, Gertrude St. Pierre of Salem, MA, Theresa Marchand of Salisbury, MA and Claire Moore and her husband, Roger of Salisbury, MA. She was predeceased by two brothers, Edmund and Normand Morneau.
Calling hours were held on Friday August 3, 2012 from 5 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH. A Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday at 10:30am in St. Anne Church, Emerson Rd., Hampstead, NH. Burial followed in Center Cemetery, Sandown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Compassionate Care of Londonderry, NH, Sarah Care of Hampstead, NH or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
