Mary F. (Morrell) Appelgate, 82, of Mansfield, formerly of Foxboro, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, on Tuesday, July 31, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald N. Appelgate who died in 1991.
Born in Dorchester, MA on January 24, 1930, she was a loving daughter of the late William and Sophie (Gallant) Morrell.
Mary grew up and was educated in Dedham, and was a graduate of Dedham High School. She was a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family and had made her home in Mansfield for the past 19 years. She had formerly resided in Foxboro for 36 years.
While living in Foxboro, Mrs. Appelgate, along with her family had attended St. Mary’s Church in Foxboro. In addition to spending time with her family, some of Mary’s favorite things were traveling, sightseeing and antique shopping. She had a special love for Cape Cod, especially the town of Chatham and the smaller villages along the way.
She is survived by her devoted sons; Brian G. Appelgate and his wife Dona of Seattle, Washington, Bruce W. Appelgate of Mansfield and the late Brett J. Appelgate. The sister of the late Joseph Morrell, she is also survived by her cherished grandchildren; Shannon Appelgate, Gina Lyon, Lauren Morgan and Ian Appelgate-Mehl, as well as her great grandchildren; Jeremy, Courtney and Joshua and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday, August 4th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 58 Carpenter Street, Foxboro. Burial will follow in the Rock Ridge Cemetery, Sharon.
Visitation will be held prior to the Funeral Mass on Saturday morning beginning at 8:30 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
