James "Wallace" Allen, age 68, of Coffeeville, MS died Saturday, July 28, 2012 in Kingman, AZ. He was born May 14, 1944 to the late Austin and Mae Houzlow Allen in Earle, AR. He grew up in Oakland, MS and graduated high school there. God called Wallace to his heavenly home on a mountain top in Kingman, AZ. He was a retired cross-country trucker for greater than 25 years, working for Threlkeld Leasing Co. out of Batesville, MS. He loved his job and he loved the road, stating so many times, "I have a vacation every day". He loved to take his wife and children on vacations throughout the USA. He married Cheryl Allen on July 23, 1980 and had just celebrated their 32nd anniversary in Flagstaff, AZ. His hobbies were collecting die cast replicas of cars and trucks. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles on which he was riding the day he went to meet the Lord. Wallace was a loving and compassionate man to his wife, children, grandchildren, friends and family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012 at 3:00PM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Raymond Aven officiating. Burial will be in the Coffeeville City Cemetery with Cliff Waldo, Tony Carmichael, Robert Earl Upchurch, Billy Sossoman, Johnny Sossoman and Daniel Sossoman serving as pallbearers. Terry Sossoman, John Gordon, Tracy Brower, Gabe Rosales and Bill Rotenberry will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Wallace is survived by his wife, Cheryl Allen of Coffeeville, MS; four sons, Noel Allen Hughes (Kelly), Shawn Hughes (Gwen) all of Coffeeville, MS, Geoffrey Hughes (Nadia) of Horn Lake, MS and Mickey Allen of Vicksburg, MS; two daughters, Melissa Haas (Sam) and Melanie Dixon (Stewart) both of Vicksburg, MS; two brothers, Vernon Allen (Bessie) of Grenada, MS and Gene Allen (Erica) of Ridgecrest, CA; four sisters, Helen Jones of Oakland, MS, Katherine Blanchard of Rockville, MD, Sybal Ingram and Milly Brown both of Senatobia, MS; grandchildren: Candace Sykes (Derek), Blake Hughes (Holly), Taylor Hughes and her friend Trevor Skelton all of Coffeeville, MS, Sydnee Hughes of Calhoun City, MS and her friend Logan of Grenada, MS, Corie Hughes and Piper Hughes of Horn Lake, MS, Kathy, Travis, Trey, Tyler, Montrell, Sean and Mirannda of Vicksburg, MS; and a great grandson, River of Coffeeville, MS.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Allen and Jim Allen; a nephew, Allen Jones and a niece, Pam Jones.
