Michael D. Kerbelis
Martinez, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, July 29, 2012, Mr. Michael Daniel Kerbelis, 79, husband of Mrs. Barbara O’Connell Kerbelis.
Mr. Kerbelis was a native of Amsterdam, NY but for the past 29 years has lived in Augusta. He was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. He received the Bishop Garland Award given for service and support of the church. Mr. Kerbelis was instrumental in the Establishing of the Eucharist and Adoration program for St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church for over 20 years. He was a member of Legion of Mary, Intercessary Prayer Group, and Eucharistic Ministries. Mr. Kerbelis was a founding member of the Secession Golf Club in Beaufort, SC. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart. Mr. Kerbelis received his Associates Degree at Russell Sage College School of Business. He was a member and supporter of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Family members in addition to his wife include daughters: Marcia K. Kennedy and husband Martin of Augusta, Nancy K. Cox of Charlotte, NC, Marguerite K. Leopold and husband Philip of Alexandria, VA; sons: Michael David Kerbelis and wife Lauren of Augusta, Paul Evan Kerbelis and wife Gina of Orlando, FL; 14 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; and a brother: Valentine Kerbelis and wife Theresa of Amsterdam, NY.
A memorial Mass will be held Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Rev. Gerald Ragan officiating.
