Whitman – William J. Gill, Jr. 68, died Monday July 30 after a brief, yet hard fought and brave battle against illness. He was the beloved husband of 43 years to Paula M. (Glennon) Gill.
Born in Boston and raised in Braintree he was the son of the late William J. and Margaret (Kelley) Gill and a graduate of Braintree High, Class of 1961.
For over 20 years he had worked as a pipe fitter for the former General Fire Protection, now Carter Brothers, installing fire safe sprinkler systems throughout the area.
William had resided in Whitman for over thirty eight years, where he along with his wife Paula had raised their two children.
He was truly a “family man” and his greatest pleasure came from the time spent with his treasured family. He was an avid fan of all the Boston sports teams and in his younger days had enjoyed playing golf.
In addition to his wife Paula he is survived by his loving children Nicole Pacheco and her husband John of Weymouth, and Anthony W. Gill and his wife Jennifer of Middleboro, and his cherished sisters-in-law Dianne Glennon of Weymouth and Anna Glennon of Scituate. He is also survived by his grandchildren, whom he adored, Cristiano and Amelia Pacheco.
Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial service to be held Saturday August 4 at 2:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 11 AM – 2 PM.
