Obituary

WORCESTER-Walter T. Quinn, 81, of 39 First Street, formerly of 55 Walworth Street died Wednesday, May 12th in Saint Vincent Hospital. He leaves his wife of 57 years Virginia A. (Hayes) Quinn, 3 sons Michael W. and his wife Diana M. Quinn of Evergreen, CO, Stephen J. Quinn of Eureka, CA and John F. and his wife Emily M. Quinn of Orange, 2 daughters Paula Quinn of Fall River and Patricia B. wife of Stephan McNally of Worcester, a brother William Quinn of Windsor, CT, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many nephews and nieces. A brother John Quinn and a sister Rita McClune predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester the son of John J. and Rose (Ryan) Quinn and attended St. Peter’s High School and played as an all city line backer & center for their football team. He served as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Corps during WWII, and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with two battle stars representing his participation in the India Burma and French Indo China Campaigns. Mr. Quinn worked for many years for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, until retiring in 1973. He was a member of the American Legion Post 288.

The funeral is Saturday, May 15th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, May 14th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
