Addie Zell Herndon Gray, 89, of Tifton died Monday, July 30, 2012, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Pineview Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy L. Parker will officiate with burial to follow. Walter Parker, Maxwell Hill, Ethan Greene, David Scott, Dallas Gray, Jason Rutland, Mitch Gray and Tim Gray will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Gray will be taken to her residence at 4333 Georgia Highway 125 North in Tifton on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, with the family receiving friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 and from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service on Thursday, August 2, 2012.
Mrs. Gray was born on October 1, 1922 in Tift County and was the daughter of Charles Homer Herndon and Etta Mae Rutland Herndon, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Delton Gray; one son, Delton Franklin Gray; and three sisters. She was a retired nurses aide and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Berrien County. She loved gardening and sewing.
Mrs. Gray is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Lorene Gray and Ronnie and Laura Gray, all of Cordele; four daughters and sons-in-law, J. Cheyenne and Rudolf Howell of Tifton, Louellen and Rev. Jimmy Parker of Sparks, Etta Lynn and Stephen Scott of Tifton and Dianne and Kimsey Rutland of Richmond Hill; two sisters, Sarah Mimbs of Morrow and Laura Williams of Macon; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
