Rev. Mr. George Henry Messinger SR 73Rev. MR. George Messinger Sr. of Port Orange FL formerly of Needham died on Thursday May 6 at the Halifax Medical Center in Fl. Born in Newton George was the son of the late George and Mary (Kiley). He was ordained to the Diaconate in 1988 at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston. He served as Deacon at Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church in the Upper Falls and at the Catholic Church of the Epiphany of Florida. George was a life member of the Needham V.F.W. #2498 and a member of the Crane Lakes Golf and Country Club and the Bowling Club. Mr. Messinger was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the Italian American Club, Secular Franciscan Order and an avid golfer, fisherman and player of cards. His passion was his family and his church. George was the beloved husband of Dorothy M (Sousa) of over 50 years. He was the dear father of George Jr and his wife Cynthia of Stockton Springs ME, Jeffrey and his wife Deborah of Indianapolis, IN, Steven and his wife Margaret of Hanson, MA, Valerie Cooper of Homestead, FL and Jennifer Condon and her husband James of Westminster, MA. Brother of Robert Kiley of Waltham MA, Ethel Fairweather of Salem N.H. and Noreen Knight of Bridgewater, MA. Son In-Law of the late Frances Maccagnano. Also survived by 9 Grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A Joint funeral Mass will be held on Saturday May 15th at 9:00 AM for George and his Mother In-law Frances at Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church Newton Upper Falls. Visiting Hours Friday 5-8:00 PM from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. Needham. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Needham.
