Frances Pauline (Caponi) Maccagnano 88Frances Pauline (Caponi) Maccagnano a lifelong Needham resident died on Friday May 7 in Port Orange Florida. She was 88 years old. Frances was a Past President of the VFW William H. Carter Post #2498 Auxiliary, Past President of County and District #5 VFW and Past State President (1977-1978) VFW Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham for many years. She was also a volunteer at the polls on election days. The wife of the late Walter A. Schmierer and the late Salvatore Maccagnano, she was the mother of Dorothy M. (Sousa) and her late husband Rev. Mr. George H. Messinger Sr. of Port Orange Fl. She was the beloved sister of Felix Caponi of Hudson MA, Mary Caruso of Sudbury and the late Alice Rainha. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A joint Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday May 15 fro Frances and her Son in Law Rev. Mr. George H. Messinger at Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church in Newton Upper Falls. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting Hours in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Avenue Needham on Friday from 5-8 PM. Interment in Saint Michaels cemetery in Hudson.
