Elisa F. (Fonseca) Gomes, 80, of New Bedford died July 27, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of Hilario Gomes.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Maria Veiga Fonseca, she lived in New Bedford since 1996.
Survivors include her husband; three children, Carlos F. Gomes of Cape Cod, Luisa F. Gomes of New Bedford, and Boaventura F. Gomes and his wife Carla of New Bedford; a brother, John Fonseca of Cape Cod; a sister, Joana Varela of New Bedford; nine granchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 5-9 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Homes for Funeral, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
