Whitman – Edeltraud “Trudie” (Rackl) Kard 82 died Thursday July 26, surrounded by her loving family, after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Kard.
Born in Straubing, Germany she was the daughter of the late Alfons and Rosa (Himmel) Rackl.
Before her move to the United States, Trudie had completed a Master’s program in fashion and tailoring and worked for many years as a talented seamstress both in the US and Germany.
She was a longtime resident of Whitman for over fifty years, and a loyal communicant of the Holy Ghost Church.
She loved traveling, and her special “lunches with the ladies”, but above all she treasured the times spent with her children, grandchildren and her great granddaughter.
She is survived by her loving children Robert Kard and his wife Linda of Brockton, and Doreen Delmonico and her husband Ronald of Whitman, her grandchildren whom she adored, Nicole and Tara Delmonico, and Robert Kard and his wife Cara, and her great granddaughter Ellie Rose. She is also survived by her beloved sisters Ilse Peschel and Hildegard Kricke as well as other extended family member in Germany, and many cherished friends and neighbors.
Family and friends are invited to attend her services to be held Friday August 3 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow at 12:45 PM in the MA National Cemetery, Bourne. Calling hours are omitted by request of the family.
