George Albert Hey passed peacefully on July 23, 2012. He was the cherished son of the late Joseph and Hilda (Witham) Hey; dear brother of Liz (Hey) DiBari and her husband, Tony Dunn; devoted companion of Lena Quist and a friend to her son Douglas Quist, both of Lowell; and, uncle of Melissa (DiBari) Nowak, her husband Paul and their sons, Neville, Nicholas and Matthew of Winthrop. A graduate of Winthrop High Class of 1974, and Salem State College, George was a former Town of Winthrop Larson Rink Employee and a lifelong lobsterman. He will be remembered for his jovial countenance, his love of the sea and his willingness to lend a helping hand. He takes with him the enduring loyalty and affection of his steadfast lifelong friends. A Celebration of George's life will be held at the Winthrop Yacht Club in Centennial Hall on Sunday, August 5, at 12:30pm. Friends and family are invited to bring a picture or a “Monty Story".
