Marion E. (Damon) Furey, 79, of New Bedford died Sunday July 22, 2012.
Born in Rockland, she was the daughter of the late Owen and Hazel (Lewis) Damon. She was a graduate of Rockland High School, Class of 1951.
Marion was previouly employed by the New England Telephone Company and as a waitress in the New Bedford area and in Maine. She later worked at Stop & Shop in New Bedford until her retirement.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and trips to Foxwoods.
Survivors include her son, John Furey of Las Vegas; her former husband, William J. Furey of New Bedford; a brother, Fred Damon and his wife Frances of Rockland; a sister, Mary Petrosevich and her husband Charles of Hanover; two sisters-in-law, Jane Damon of Rockland and Janet Damon of Brockton; a brother-in-law, Clarence "Brother" Levy of Raynham; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late William J. Furey, Jr. and the sister of the late Charles William Damon, Barbara Levy, Warren Damon, Owen Damon, Alice McDonnell and Eileen Berry.
Her Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday at 11 AM in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Visiting hours are omitted. Arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. For online guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
