Obituary

Cecile “ Memere Darling” (Plouffe) Longpre- Left our world peacefully and earned her angels wings and reunited with her love on Saturday, July 21st, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. Cecile was born June 21st, 1921 in the Darlington section of Pawtucket, RI to the late Amateur & Rosianne (Raymond) Plouffe.
A loving and devoted daughter, Cecile found comfort and joy in the company of her parents, brothers and sisters on the family farm in Mohegan, RI. Cecile was raised on values to give and care for those who were in need and shares that value with us today. On June 22, 1946, Cecile married the love of her life, her love for eternity, the late Edgar M. (Mon Oncle) Longpre. They held each others’ heart for 52 glorious years. Raising their family in Mohegan, Manville, & Woonsocket, Cecile became an expert cook, baker, farmer, seamstress, landlord and caretaker of young and old alike. Her special talents included her uncanny ability to pick up a note on any instrument she touched. How she could play that harmonica! She enjoyed Bingo at least twice a week with her sisters, but most of all she relished in a good game of cards when family would gather. She was the one to beat!
By far, her greatest roles in life were being a Wife, Mom, Grandmother and MaTante. There was never a time we felt alone. She loved each and every one of us equally and with overabundance. Memere loved having the grandchildren sleep over whenever possible. Alongside Pepere, she would cook all our favorite dishes "from scratch". Her pancakes were always “the best”. Her pea soup, “the best”. And no one to this day can ever figure out how she made those fantastic chocolate chip cookies, but we’re working in it!
Although she has physically left this world, she will never leave our hearts. Cecile leaves behind a son, Edgar A. Longpre and his wife Marguerite (Patenaude) of Manville, their sons Keith & his wife, Terri-lynn (Okenquist) along with their children Anna, Abigail & Joseph. Marc and his wife, Bethany (Bibeault) Longpre along with their children Ashlyn, Kyle & Arianna. Cecile leaves her daughter, Konnie Laprade and her husband, Roland from Woonsocket along with their children Nicole (Laprade) Egan and her daughters Alexandra & Mackenzie and Eric Laprade and his family. Cecile leaves behind her last surviving sister, Mrs. Rita (Plouffe) Dupont of Lincoln. Cecile is predeceased by her brothers Henry & Amateur Plouffe, sisters Victoria Plouffe, Aurore Lapierre and Malvina Pincince. She was a special blessing to Noel, Phil, Marcel, Monique (LaCroix) & Ronald Pincince. We are forever grateful to her earthen guardian angel, Katie Sousa. You brought her love & care each and everyday; she will now take care of you.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11:00 am in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Park Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery, Woonsocket.
