Obituary

DUDLEY – Roland L. Girouard, 81, of Schofield Avenue, died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Lanessa Extended Care with his family at his side.
He leaves his wife and longtime companion, Barbara M. (Raymond) Daigle Girouard; 5 stepchildren, Bradley Daigle and his wife Evelyn of Dudley, Dianne Sheldon and her husband Ronald of Pomfret, CT, Jacqueline Stevens and her husband Mark of Worcester, Joey Daigle and his wife Judy of West Woodstock, CT, and Bruce Daigle of Dudley; 11 step grandchildren, many step great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
He was born in Webster, a son of Leon and Lea (Cusson) Girouard and lived in Webster and Dudley throughout his life. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Girouard worked for the Department of Public Works in Sturbridge for 30 years before retiring.
The funeral will be held Friday, July 27, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street, Webster. Burial will be in Saint Anthony’s Cemetery, Webster. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will perform the military honors at the cemetery. Calling hours will be from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Thursday, July 26, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
