Gail (Gilbert, Allosso) Hamblett, age 67 died on July 20, 2012 after a brave and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Thanks to the wonderful care she received at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston she was able to live 13 months beyond her diagnosis. Born in Arlington, she and her former husband, Joseph Allosso of Falmouth, ME, raised their children in Reading, and she finally settled into retirement in Londonderry, NH. Family meant everything to her. She leaves her husband and soul mate of 16 years, Charles (Chuck) Hamblett, 3 daughters and their families: Kristin Allosso and Jeff Smith of Burlington, VT and their children, Avery, Cooper, and Cora; Karin DiNapoli of Reading, MA and Troy DiNapoli also of Reading, MA, and their three children, Nicholas, Taylor, and Adam; and Keri and Dr. David DiMarco, of Fairfax, VT and their son Joseph. She also leaves a step-daughter, Elise Hamblett of Winchendon, MA and her family, partner Larry Nutt, and their children, Killian, Shannan, Tarryn, and Sladyn; a step-son, Erik Hamblett, of Maynard, MA; a brother, M. Curtis Gilbert and his wife, Connie of Dunedin, FL, and special lifelong friends Donna Doyle, Jane Hatch, and Francine Marmenout.
A graduate of Bridgewater State College, MA, Gail worked for Houghton Mifflin publishers until the birth of her first daughter. Then she enjoyed staying home for 12 years to raise her family. During this time she was also involved in the Creative Arts for Kids after school program in Reading, MA. She was then employed as the office/contracts manager for the Health Effects Institute in Boston for 16 years. She was blessed with an early retirement and had several joyous years before her diagnosis. During this time she enjoyed drawing, painting, dancing, and volunteering with Chuck for Meals on Wheels in Waltham, MA. Gail and Chuck were also flea market dealers every Sunday for 6 months each year in Hollis, NH. They enjoyed several trips around the country during their 11 years of marriage and then finally settled in at the Nevins, an active adult community in Londonderry, NH, where they met many wonderful friends, who were extremely supportive during the time of her illness.
Calling hours were held on Monday, July 23rd from 5 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 10:00am in the funeral home. The burial followed in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E.
