Obituary

Whitman – Ann M. O’Brien 78 died peacefully on Thursday July 19.

Born and raised in Quincy she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (McGuiness) O’Brien and a graduate of North Quincy High.

Ann had attended Boston University and Bentley College School of Accounting, and had worked for over 22 years as a bookkeeper, working for 15 years as the assistant bookkeeper, vice-president and general manager for the former House of Old Malineau a wine distributor in the Fenway section of Boston.

Before her move to Whitman, to reside with her nephew and family, Ann had been a fifty year resident of Hanson. As a longtime resident of Hanson she had served as registrar of voters, and until her retirement in 1991 she had worked as the chief dispatcher and fire alarm operator for the police and fire of Hanson and Duxbury for over 15 years.

Ann loved baseball and was a lifelong and avid Red Sox fan.

She is survived by four nephews, one niece and five great nephews. She was the sister of the late Barbara Ellis, niece of the late Winnie McGuiness, and aunt of the late Gary Lunnin.

Her funeral service will be held Tuesday July 24 at 10:30 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte. 58 @ the rotary circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 11 AM in St. Joseph the Worker Church, Hanson. Burial will follow in the Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9:00-10:30 AM.
