Cecelia S. (Barao) Freitas, 98, of Springfield, Virginia, formerly of New Bedford, died peacefully in her sleep on June 26, 2012. She was the wife of the late Manuel Freitas who died on June 4, 1981.
Born in New Bedford on November 24, 1913, the daughter of the late John and Ludwina Barao, she lived in New Bedford most of her life before moving to Springfield several years ago.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Freitas and his wife Wanda, and Jeffrey Freitas and his wife Doreen; four grandchildren, Terri Crossin, Jennifer Howard, Jeff Freitas, and Bree Freitas; and seven great-grandchildren, Lorne Ottinger, Haley Strawderman, Daniel Crossin, Matthew Crossin, Rachel Crossin, Gabrielle Freitas, and Alec Freitas.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday July 23, 2012 at 10 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
