Obituary

WAYLAND: Pearline E. (Parks) Hughes, 70, died peacefully on Sunday, July 15 2012 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital after being stricken at her summer residence in Osterville earlier in the week.
She was born in Waltham on October 9, 1941 the daughter of the late Ralph S. Parks and Mildred (Pennell) Parks.
Pearline is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, C. Arthur Hughes of Wayland. She was the beloved mother of Charles A. Hughes, Jr., and his wife Sarah of Natick and Sandra C. Hughes and her husband Christopher Guzzi of Newton. She is also survived by her brother Ralph P. Parks of Watertown and sister-in-law Catherine H. Hughes of Waltham and several nieces and nephews.
Pearline spent her formative years in Watertown and graduated with the Class of 1959 from Watertown High School where she and Arthur were childhood sweethearts. In her earlier years she was a secretary for Puritan Dress in Waltham. After her children were born, Pearline devoted her life to her family and friends. She has been a resident of Wayland for over 34 years and also enjoyed spending her summers with her family in Osterville. She and Arthur enjoyed traveling especially cruises where she met wonderful friends on those adventures and remained in constant contact with them chatting on the internet. She loved to spend time at craft fairs and was a longtime supporter of Buddy Dog Humane Society in Sudbury. Pearline was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister and friend to everyone. She will be greatly missed by all of the lives that she touched.
Memorial Visitations will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Interment will be private in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Watertown.
A Memorial Service celebrating Pearline’s life will be held on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Community United Methodist Church, 5 Damon St (corner of Rte 27 and Damon St.) Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests gifts in her memory may be sent to the Community United Methodist Church or the Osterville United Methodist Church, 57 Pond St., Osterville, MA 02655.
