Obituary

James H. Holden, 92, of Pawtucket, died surrounded by family on July 15, 2012. He was the husband of the late Lucille (Whiteside) Holden to whom he was married for 49 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late John and Jenny (Maher) Holden. He lived in Harmony and Harrisville before moving to Pawtucket.
Mr. Holden was a graduate of Hope High School and a veteran of World War II with the United States Coast Guard as a Yeoman, First Class, on USCGC Laurel W-291 during the Greenland Patrol. He was a past member of Capt. Elwood Euart Post # 602. He was an accountant with the State of RI and a project accountant with Gilbane Building Company before retirement. In his spare time, he collected coins, stamps, and trading cards, and enjoyed bird watching.

He leaves his children, James Holden of Rumford, Kathleen Norton of Pawtucket, Kacey Richards of Harmony, and Karin Marchessault of North Providence; grandchildren, Grace, Faith, and Hope Norton, and Joseph and Donald Marchessault. Brother of the late Genevieve Flynn, Gladys Cannon, Ruth Quennan, Dorothy Martin, John Holden, Kathleen Holden, Ann Sweeney, Thomas Holden, Irene Holden, and Gertrude Soito.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10AM in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket. Visitation Wednesday 4-7PM in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial with Military Honors in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
