Roger E. “Chick” LaCasse, 76, of David Dr., Blackstone, MA passed away Tuesday, July 10th 2012, at Milford Hospital with his wife and daughter by his side. He was the beloved husband of Carmen (Bernard) LaCasse. They were married on August 21, 1963.
Born on June 18, 1936 in Berlin, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late Ludger and Antoinette (Huot) LaCasse.
He was educated at the Guardian Angel School and graduated from Notre Dame High School in Berlin, Class of 1954.
He later lived in Milford for several years and was a resident of Blackstone for over 40 years.
Roger was employed at General Motors in Framingham for over 30 years before he retired. While at GM he was a member of the UAW Local 422.
As a lifelong sports enthusiast, Roger played and coached hockey both in New Hampshire and locally. He also participated in softball and enjoyed bowling, golf, and playing horseshoes.
Roger will be remembered for the many get together, sing-along and bonfires he attended with everyone in his neighborhood.
Roger will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by a son Gary LaCasse of CA, three daughters Deidre LaCasse of FL, Susan Landry of Blackstone, and Dawn Carvelho of Lincoln. He was the brother of Raymond LaCasse of VT and Roland LaCasse of NH, and the late Paul LaCasse, Pauline Roy, and Cecile Audette. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jessica, Craig, Cody, Ray, Raeanyna, Matthew and PJ, and many several nieces and nephews.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 11:00 am in St. Theresa’s Church, Rathbun St., Blackstone. Visiting hours will be Saturday morning from 9:00-10:30 am, prior to Mass, in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Theresa’s Parish, 630 Rathbun St. Blackstone, MA. 01504.
