In Taunton, July 15, 2012 Joseph I. Quinn husband of the late Alice M. (Fernandes) Quinn died in his home peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 87. Born in Dedham, Joe was the son of the late Richard and Gertrude (Griffin) Quinn. He was a graduate of Dedham High School and Boston College class of 1949. Joe was a veteran of the US Marine Corps serving in the Pacific during WWII. Joe was a licensed insurance agent and owner of Allan M. Walker Insurance Agency in Taunton. He was the founder and coach of the Coyle and Cassidy High School Hockey Team for thirty five years. Joe was a member of the 1949 Boston College national championship hockey team. He was the past president of the Taunton Boys & Girls Club, Taunton Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Greater Taunton, Taunton Development Corp for twenty three years and was a member of the Taunton Rotary, past Commissioner of TMLP in Taunton, former trustee of Bristol County Savings Bank in Taunton, past Chairman of the Board of Morton Hospital & Medical Center, He enjoyed skiing, golfing, traveling and going to all of his families sporting events and cherished time with his family. Joe was the father of Colleen Quinn of Hull, Michelle Quinn of CA, Kevin Quinn and his wife Anita of Hubbardston, Brian Quinn of Mansfield, Michael Quinn and his wife Deborah of Pocasset and Terrence Quinn and his wife Lisa of Taunton. Grandfather of thirteen grandchildren. Brother of the late Marie Newman, Richard, John and Frank Quinn. Calling hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton Wednesday, July 18th from 4-8 PM. A Mass will be held at St Mary’s Church in Taunton on Thursday at 10 AM. Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in Joseph’s memory may be made to the Taunton Boys & Girls Club, 31 Court Street, Taunton, Ma, 02780.
