Earl Griffin, Sr., 72, of Baxley, died Friday, July 13, 2012 in the Community Hospice in Vidalia.
Funeral services will be held 3 P.M., Monday, July 16 from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home in Baxley with Elder Charles Tyson and Elder Herman Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in the Damascus Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Mershon. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 at Swain Funeral Home.
Mr. Griffin was born November 22, 1939 in Ocilla, Georgia to the late Elder Ashley Griffin and the late Emma Gray Griffin. He was a member of Damascus Primitive Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Griffin was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force. He was a retired educator and was retired from the railroad.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife: Faye King Griffin of Baxley; two daughters: Robin & Joe Taylor of Baxley and Racheal Griffin-Jackson of Athens; one son: Earl Griffin, Jr. of Baxley; three granddaughters: Haleigh Taylor, Casey Taylor, and Jessica Jackson; one grandson: Griffin Jackson; one sister: Jean Buchan of Douglas; two brothers: Wiley Griffin of Fitzgerald and Herman Griffin of Lake City, Florida; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister: Lilian Fletcher and four brothers: Albert Griffin, Barney Griffin, Virgil Griffin, and John David Griffin.
