Obituary


HALIFAX-Laurel Virginia (Baker) Rigo, 67, of Halifax passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Laurel was the daughter of the late Guy S. and Avis Baker of Halifax. She grew up in both Newton and Halifax before graduating from Silver Lake Regional High School in 1962. She worked for the town of Halifax in several capacities for close to 30 years, most recently serving as Town Accountant. She was an avid New England sports fan and was actively involved in local sporting activities, and could always be found on the sidelines cheering on her children and grandchildren. Laurel was predeceased by a brother, Jared Baker and sister, Jeanette Bosworth. She is survived by her three daughters: Deborah Costa and her husband Rob of Halifax, Michelle Greeley of Halifax, and Candi Peloso and her husband Michael of Framingham. She was also the loving grandmother of Taylor and Matthew Greeley. She leaves behind two sisters, Thea McKinney and Deanne Dixon, both of Utah, and several half-siblings, nieces and nephews. Laurel’s family welcomes friends and loved ones to a memorial service to be held at Halifax Congregational Church on Saturday, July 21st at 10:30 a.m.
