NATICK: David C. Wilson, age 71, a longtime heavy equipment operator for the Natick DPW, died Thursday evening, July 12, 2012, at the MetroWest Medical Center after being stricken at his Natick home. He was the devoted husband of Jane (Taylor) Wilson for 51 years.
Born in Newton, he was the son of the late Carl and Raida (Young) Wilson. He attended the Natick Public Schools and was employed with the Natick DPW for 44 years.
David and Jane were married in March of 1961, and made a home for their growing family in Natick. Throughout his life, David had an affinity for gadgets, keeping an eye on trends and purchasing innovative electronics. He faithfully chronicled his family’s growing years in photographs, was very interested in genealogy, and enjoyed sharing his family’s long history in Maine with others. David was a history buff, particularly the Civil War era, and was a train enthusiast. He and Jane had traveled to Seattle and back by train on one memorable trip since his retirement. Forever playing with pumps, cars, and various household equipment in need of repair, he was happiest at home in the company of family and friends.
He is survived by Jane; a son, Robert W. Wilson and wife Elizabeth of Hopedale; three daughters, Sandra L. Healey of Westford, Heather A. Flynn and husband William of Raynham, and Heidi J. Ellis and husband Timothy of Portsmouth, NH; six grandchildren, Brianna, Matthew, Jenessa, Paul, Alanna, and Jason; and two nieces, Lois and Lorraine. He was the brother of the late Al Biswanger and Ruth Rostanzo.
His funeral will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street on Natick Common, Natick, on Thursday, July 19th at 11:00a.m. Visiting hours will be Wednesday 4 – 7p.m.
