Obituary

Joan M (Kelly) Leonard, 77, wife of the late George V Leonard of Raynham died Thursday July12, 2012 at Island Terrace nursing home in Lakeville following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Leonard was born in Taunton, daughter of the late Marie and Floyd Kelly, and lived in Taunton and Raynham for the majority of her life. She was a graduate of St Mary’s High School, 1952, and the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1955. She practiced as a registered nurse in the operating rooms of New England Deaconess and Morton hospital for 5 years. She then received her Certification as a psychiatric nurse and served the Brockton VA Hospital for 29 years before retiring in 1996.
She was an active member of the RIH Alumnae Association and Reunion committee, as well as the Raynham Historical Society where she and her husband donated many pieces of Raynham history.
She is survived by 2 sons, George B of Raynham and William R of Onset Ma. She also leaves 2 sisters, Carolyn P Schindelwig of Raynham, and Bruce and Barbara Blake of Wareham Ma, 4 grandchildren, Briana and Hanna Littlefield, Scarlette and Jayden Leonard all of Raynham, 6 nieces and 4 nephews. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. Taunton, MA 02780 on Monday, July 16th at 11am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Ann’s Church in Raynham at 12pm. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday from 2-4pm. Burial will be in Pleasant St. Cemetery in Raynham.
