Obituary

NEW BEDFORD -- Shirley M. (Thompson) Morse, 78, of Middleboro died Friday, May 7, 2004, at Blaire House Long Term Care Facility. She was the widow of Oscar M. Morse, who died in 1991, and Attorney John A. Campbell, who died in 1954.

Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Ruth (Sutherland) Thompson and was a graduate of Fairhaven High School.

During World War II, she served in the Canadian Army and later attended Kinyon-Campbell Secretarial School.

During her marriage to Mr. Campbell, she was a legal secretary and lived in Fairhaven. After her marriage to Mr. Morse, she moved to Wareham and, as a homemaker, was a talented knitter, crocheter and also worked on cross stitch.

Mrs. Morse lived in Middleboro many years and in 2003 moved to the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home for the Aged.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Hilton, and her husband, Wilfred, of Dartmouth; two sons, Scott Morse of Buzzards Bay, Randall Morse and his wife, Deborah, of Rochester; seven grandchildren, Kristine Donnelly and her husband, Kevin, of Lakeville, Lauren, Genna and Brendon Morse of Middleboro, and Matthew, Jamie and Andrew Morse of Rochester; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kelsey Donnelly of Lakeville; a brother, Donald Thompson of Northport, Fla.; and a nephew, Bruce Thompson of Northport, Fla.

Her funeral and burial will be private.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the WILSON CHAPEL, 479 County St., New Bedford, Ma. Monday, May 10, 2004 from 6-8 p.m.
