Dorothy E. (Souter) Towne passed July 10, 2012.
Born in Lowell, MA on April 15, 1923 Dottie lived most of her life in Andover. A graduate of Andover “Punchard” High School, Dorothy met her late husband of 63 years, Arthur “Red” Towne (passed 1/7/12) while office manager at Shattuck Express in Andover. Dottie began her Banking Career in 1956 as a Teller at Andover Savings Bank. She went on to become Assistant Treasurer (1973) in charge of Mortgages and worked with Nixdorf Computer Corp. to program the Bank’s computers to adapt to the ever changing regulations of the mortgage industry until her retirement in 1985. Dottie was a member of the Shawsheen Village Women’s Club for many years.
Both “Dottie and Red” will be sadly missed by daughter, Debbie E. (Towne) Hubbell, granddaughter, Danielle E. Hubbell, their neighbors, many nieces and nephews, the “Fearsome Foursome” and the entire “Strawberry Hill Gang”.
There are no funeral services. Memorial contributions may be made in Dottie’s name to: Sarah Care Adult Day, 201 Route 111, Hampstead, NH 03841.
Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery at a later date.
