Jimmy L. Minshew, 68, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died May 6, 2004 at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at St Matthew Episcopal Church, Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Nancy Mills officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Monday and Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Minshew was born November 28, 1935 in Ben Hill County, Georgia to the late Jim and Lessie Swain Minshew. He retired as Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War Era and the Vietnam War. He was a former employee of The Herald Leader and of Coachmen Industries. Mr. Minshew attended St. Matthew Episcopal Church and was President of the local AARP.
Mr. Minshew is survived by his wife: Maureen Minshew, Fitzgerald; one daughter: Christine Hart, Bonaire, GA; one grandson: Justin Hart, Bonaire, GA; one sister and brother-in-law: Bobbie and Ben Kennedy, Brooksville, FL; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Tony Smith and one sister, Lavada Branam.
